About Me

Hello! Welcome to my blog where I discuss piano related topics to students, parents of students, and teachers. I started teaching piano back in 2008, and have worked with a variety of students/families from all backgrounds over the past 15 years. As a teacher, I'm continuously learning ways to help my students on their musical journeys. As a pianist, music is a life-long path of building creativity and improving my craft.

I hope that my blog can provide some helpful tips for students getting started with piano or who have experience already. For teachers, I hope I can provide tools and resources for you to get started or give you some newer ideas to implement in your studio.

Brief Bio:

I started piano lessons at age 6 when my oldest brother decided piano was not for him and we had an upright piano collecting dust in the living room. Once I started, I was hooked! I loved music theory and practicing. My parents told me later that they had to tell me to STOP playing sometimes because it was too much for their ears!

Fast forward to my college years, I decided to go all in with piano and majored in Piano performance for both my Bachelors and Masters degrees from San Francisco State University and California State University Fullerton. During these years, I also enjoyed collaborating with other instrumentalists/vocalists and performed at various venues within the LA area. After grad school, I moved back to the Bay Area to build up my career in teaching/performing.

Since moving to Boulder, Colorado a few years ago, I've been enjoying the slower pace of this city and being surrounded by nature. Aside from practicing and teaching, I enjoy exploring coffee shops, running, and hanging out with my cat named Mittens.
